Two Kinds of Silence

Al-Hujwiri , " The Kashf al-Mahjub "

There are two kinds of speeches and two kinds of silences. Speech is either truth or a falsification, and silence is either fruition or heedlessness. If one speaks the truth, his words are better than his silence, but he who invents falsifications, his silence is better than his speech.

"If one speaks the truth, his words are better than his silence..." I like this one. Shows that we should stand up for the truth and defend it against falseness through making our voice heard in the crowd.

I am never one who speaks up even if I know I should say something about the matter... I never think it would make that much of a difference. But reading this, hits me hard. If I don't speak out, especially if its a truth that matters to me especially, no one would ever know what I know and think. (except blogging)

thanks for this.

These words of wisdom are most fascinating, Edward. I've got one too! The undertones from a gentle whisper can sometimes be heard above an angry roar.
